Abdul Wahab Al-Awadi (1953, Kuwait) combines caricature with the art of painting. His background has had a significant influence on his artistic career.
Al-Awadhi has received a degree from Soviet Union in Medical Assistance, followed by a degree in Physiotherapy from Slovenia; as a result, his works are influenced by the Eastern European style particularly from Russia and the Balkans.
Al-Awadhi began publishing illustrations in Al-Talea Newspaper, then after meeting the late political artists Naji Al-Ali, who found his ability to. When moving back to paintings, Al-Awadhi was inclined to wait for an artistic style to suit his relaxed nature, which manifests his observations and attention to detail.
He states, “My style is generally abstract, and I am not technically trained in the arts. The anatomies in my works have some deficiencies yet I have made a lot of efforts to learn anatomy, but I haven’t fully mastered it. So I thought I’d blend abstraction and diagnosis, but in a way that was derived from the spirit of childhood. I tested out two paintings and was pleased with the result so I decided to continue experimenting with colour, and types of mediums from acrylic to charcoal and collage, using old newspapers which I have collected from Slovenia.”
Despite his numerous art exhibitions, he continued creating caricatures for Al-Qabas, Al-Watan, and Al-Arabi magazines.
Through his influences in his illustrations with a tendency to pack in details with attention to accuracy and current events, he has been able to create a unique style of abstract expressionism which comment on human issues and metaphors. Al-Awadhi continues to develop his artistic expression through experimenting with different mediums and techniques.

.يجمع الفنان عبد الوهاب العوضي (مواليد الكويت 1953) بين فن الكاريكاتير وفن الرسم، ولهذه الخلفية تأثير كبير على مساره الفني
حصل العوضي على دبلوم المساعدات الطبية من الاتحاد السوفييتي السابق، ثم على دبلوم ‏العلاج الطبيعي من سلوفينيا، وتأثر مزاجه الفني ببيئة شرق أوروبا وخصوصا الروسية ومنطقة البلقان، وهو ما ‏يلاحظ كذلك في عدد من أعماله الفنية السابقة التي يشعر المتلقي فيها بهذا التأثير. ‏
بدأ بنشر الرسوم المصاحبة للمقالات في صحيفة الطليعة، وبعد لقاءه بالفنان الراحل ناجي العلي، وجد الأخير في رسومه قدرات فنية تمكنه من رسم الكاريكاتير، وقد تلقى النصيحة باهتمام، وبدا ميالا للتمهل للوصول إلى صيغة فنية وتعبيرية تناسب طبيعته الهادئة المتأملة التي تمتلك قوة الملاحظة والعناية

يقول العوضي : "أسلوبي عموما تجريدي، وأنا أساسا غير أكاديمي، لدي بعض القصور في التشريح، رغم ‏إني بذلت جهدا كبيرا في تعلم التشريح، لكني لم أتقنه بشكل تام. وبالتالي فكرت أن أمزج ‏بين التجريد والتشخيص ولكن بأسلوب مستمد من روح الطفولة، وجربت لوحتين وأسعدتني ‏النتيجة فقررت الاستمرار في التجربة، وأدخلت ألوانا إضافية لم أكن أستخدمها، وحتى ‏الإكريلك كخامة للرسم أضفت عليها بعض الإضافات كالرسم بالفحم أو الكولاج

.ورغم تعدد المعارض الفنية التي أقامها الفنان، فلم يتوقف عن رسم الكاريكاتير متنقلا بين صحف القبس والوطن ومجلة العربي
وقد تمكن العوضي من خلال هذا التأثير الواضح لفن الكاريكاتير مع الميل للتكثيف ودقة الملاحظة ذات الطابع المجهري، أن يخلق أسلوبا فنيا خاصا، يميل
.للتعبيرية التجريدية ويعبر به عن قضايا إنسانية عديدة، مع ميل للرمزية ومحاولة تطوير تجربته الفنية في كل مرة، كاشفا عن رغبته في التجديد والتطوير
