Beyond the Abyss
'Beyond the Abyss' touches upon the disorienting process of life’s journey and evolution from darkness to light. By combining a mirage of poetic calligraphy, fluid colors and organic shapes found in the world around us, the artist allows the viewer to explore the abyss of emotions and hurdles faced in one’s life.
In this series, the audience are guided through the journey of a lost soul in pursuit of salvation navigating its way through complete darkness, anxiety, ignorance, and fear of the unknown until finally reaching the light.
The poetry integrated with enlightening verses from the Quran counsels the viewer towards the calm light of acceptance; breaking through the darkness with the healing expression of thoughts.

Mahmoud Shaker is an Author and Artist based in Kuwait. He started writing at the age of 13. We know him through his own words, from stories he told us through his books, which reflected the spirit of a young Kuwaiti who decided to be a writer to add to the literary arena in Kuwait. He has published more than six novels. Mahmoud Shaker is a peaceful dreamer with loving a charisma. His creative sensibility and need for expression lead him into the field of visual arts, where his thoughts and ideas found its way to grow bigger and transform into entities that extend beyond the written word.
