An exhibition of the renowned Bahraini artist Khalid Farhan sharing his interpretation of his professor, the esteemed Egyptian artist Adam Henein’s sculptural works.

Adam Henein 1929 – 2020

Considered as one of the most prominent sculptors in the Arab world in the twentieth century, Henein completed a number of large and small-sized works, using various materials such as granite, bronze, plaster, limestone, and pottery. His first works were shaped by ancient Egyptian statues “with a sense of minimizing in the treatment of masses and volumes.” The beginning of the seventies marked an important development in his art, as he was inspired by the freedom of sculptural expression. During the 1980s, his sculptures were characterized by abstract shapes and volumes, and dynamic movement, revolving around themes such as the disks of the sun and moon and the concept of ascension. His work in the 1990s focused on large-scale outdoor sculptures, including the Ship, designed as a metaphorical alternative to a museum space. “His works generally embody the sense of elemental clarity and the concept of eternity.”

يستلهم الفنان خالد فرحان مجموعة جديدة من أعمال أستاذه النحات الرسام المصري آدم حنين، ومن ثم تحويلها بأسلوبه الخاص

آدم حِنِين 1929 – 2020

يُعد من أبرز النحاتين في العالم العربي في القرن العشرين. أنجز خلال مسيرته الفنية عدداً من القطع الكبيرة والصغيرة الحجم، باستخدام مواد متنوعة مثل الغرانيت والبرونز والجص والحجر الجيري والفخار. تشكلت أعماله الأولى التماثيل المصرية القديمة «مع الدلالة على حس تبسيطي في معالجة الكتل والأحجام.» وسجّلت بداية السبعينيات تطوّراً هاماً في فنّه واستلهم من حرية التعبير النحتية. وفي خلال الثمانينيات، اتسمت منحوتاته بالأشكال المجردة والأحجام الصافية وبديناميكية الحركة، وكانت تدور حول مواضيع مثل قرصي الشمس والقمر ومفهوم الصعود. أعماله في التسعينيات، تشكلت على المنحوتات كبيرة الحجم التي تعرض في الهواء الطلق، ومنها السفينة، المصممة كبديل مجازي للفضاء المتحفي. “تجسّد أعماله بشكل عام الحس الصرحي المختزل ومفهوم الأزل.”
