Resurrection represents the culmination of three years of research by Amira Behbehani into color, material, and spatial form, evolving the narrative established in her 2022 exhibition, Seeking Refuge. While her previous work engaged with the forced disconnection of the pandemic era, Resurrection reframes solitude as a deliberate act of repair and reconciliation rather than escapism. By treating withdrawal as a necessary “stillness” to rediscover presence and re-emerge into the collective with renewed clarity, Behbehani uses materiality and texture as sites of embodied memory. The exhibition invites viewers to experience resurrection not as a final event, but as a continuous process of “becoming,” where introspection and social disengagement serve as transformative pathways to reclaiming one’s space in the world.
