Maysaloun Faraj is a London-based Iraqi-American painter, ceramist, and sculptor with a background in architecture. Born in the United States and raised between Los Angeles, Baghdad, and later London, her diverse cultural experiences deeply inform her art. Faraj’s work merges architectural precision with spiritual and humanistic themes, expressed through vibrant color and geometric harmony that bridge East and West.
Beyond her practice, she has been instrumental in promoting modern Middle Eastern art internationally. She curated the first major touring exhibition of contemporary Iraqi art (2000–2003) and edited Strokes of Genius: Contemporary Iraqi Art (Saqi Books, 2001). As co-founder of Aya Gallery (2002–2010), she provided a vital platform for artists from Iraq and the wider region.
