An exhibition of a series of monochrome photographic portraits and an installation by Ghassan Hamada, exploring notions of memory, absence, exodus, and the loss of homeland. In an attempt to capture the stories of the forced exodus of peoples from Palestine, these photographs capture a frozen moment in time, as Hamada listened to each of his subjects’ stories, recording them to be heard by audiences abroad. Viewers and listeners are advised to scan each code to hear their stories as they look upon the faces of those who were pushed out of their homes by the occupational forces.
Ghassan Hamada is a self-taught Jordanian artist of Palestinian origin, born in Kuwait in 1968. His practice spans calligraphy, painting, film and graphic design. He is a strong believer in experimentation as a process for creativity and has participated in competitions, winning numerous awards. The Arabic letter captivates him with its curves and overlapping lines. Sometimes he says that the rules of this calligraphy were laid in the sky, so no human being can achieve such perfection.

سلسلة من الصور بالأبيض والأسود يستكشف من خلالها غسان حمادة مفاهيم الذاكرة والنزوح والأرض، لسرد حَكايا الغيّاب، والتقاط جوهر قصصهم. تمسك هذه الصور بأهداب اللحظة، تجمد الزمن وتطلق سيل المشاعر، لتتعمق في وجدان الإنسان الفلسطيني. جنبًا إلى جنب تجتمع هذه الصور لتروي سردية أكبر عن النزوح القسري عن تغريبه الشعب الفلسطيني.
غسان حمادة فنان أردني من أصل فلسطيني ولد في الكويت عام 1968، وهو فنان ذو تجربة متنوعة في عدد من الفنون ما بين الخط والرسم والسينما والتصميم الغرافيكي، يأسره على وجه الخصوص الحرف العربي بمنحنياته وخطوطه المتداخلة، لدرجة يرى فيها أن قواعد هذا الخط وضعت في السماء، فلا يمكن لأي إنسان أن يحقق مثل هذا الكمال، يؤمن بشدة بالتجربة أساسًا للإبداع، وتستهويه المفاجآت التي ينتجها التمازج بين الفنون المختلفة التي يمارسها لتتآلف في تجربة فنية فريدة ومبدعة.
